Abstract length

  • Provide an author-written abstract of no more than 250 words.
  • Research highlights should be included within the main document, below the abstract.

Keywords

  • Provide 6-8 keywords chosen by the author.
  • Each manuscript should have 6 to 8 keywords.

Reference style

  • Articlo formats your supplied references in APA style and checks that citations match the reference list; source validity is not verified.

Figure and table rules

  • Short communications which present novel data in line with the Aims and Scope of the journal are welcome and should be formatted.
  • Research Highlights, these should be a concise list of no more than four short bullet points, summarising the key findings of their paper.

  • The GA should be as simple as possible and can be in colour.
  • These should be listed alphabetically in the style of the American Pyschological Association (APA style) except that issue numbers should not be included.
  • Sequence data should be presented concisely, using a small font size.
  • Letter: Use of the single letter amino acid code is preferred.
  • All files should be kept to a minimum size where possible.
  • Colour charges Authors should restrict their use of colour to situations where it is necessary on scientific, and not merely cosmetic, grounds.
  • All research studies on humans (individuals, samples, or data) must have been performed in accordance with the principles stated in the Declaration of Helsinki.
  • A declaration must be included within the submission stating: Originality and accuracy of content has been confirmed by the authors.
  • Authors must provide full methodological details and adhere to relevant reporting guidelines where applicable.
  • Authors must retain the original and revised versions which must be shared upon request.

Article type and manuscript length

  • Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text; acknowledgements; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figure caption(s) (as a list).

Manuscript structure

  • Footnotes should be indicated with lowercase superscript a, b, c, etc. (uppercase superscript A, B, C, etc. are only used for indicating statistically significantly different data).
  • Although the Introduction should be concise it should be useful not only to those who are very familiar with the topic of the manuscript but also to non-experts.

  • For animal studies, approval must have been obtained from the local or institutional animal use and care committee.
  • Authors must provide full methodological details and adhere to relevant reporting guidelines where applicable (e.g. CONSORT-AI, STARD-AI, GAMER, TRIPOD-AI, etc).
