Figure and table rules
- Keep every figure and table numbered, captioned, and cited in the manuscript.

Show 3 more
- Figures should be of sufficient resolution to enable refereeing.

Show 1 more
- The title page should also include any acknowledgments of assistance and disclosure of any sources of funding for the present manuscript, per the request of the American Academy of Advertising Publications Comittee.

- Include or confirm the competing interests required by the journal. Articlo checks this item and flags anything that still needs author input.
Ethics statement
- Review: Add or confirm the author-written Ethics statement; Articlo flags it if author input is still needed.
- Review: It must also include any Ethical Statement required for human participant research papers (please see Peer Review and Ethics section below, and the JA Ethical Standards guidelines for more details).
Blinded manuscript
- Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, and other direct identifiers from the blinded manuscript file.
- Review: All submissions to JA must go through our formal triple blind peer review process.
Show 1 more
- As above, ensure that all personal information is removed from the ‘anonymous’ version of the manuscript before you submit it to JA.
Cover letter
- Using Third-Party Material in your Paper You must obtain the necessary permission to reuse third-party material in your article.
- Review: The use of short extracts of text and some other types of material is usually permitted, on a limited basis, for the purposes of criticism and review without securing formal permission.
Show 1 more
- If you wish to include any material in your paper for which you do not hold copyright, and which is not covered by this informal agreement, you will need to obtain written permission from the copyright owner prior to submission.
Author contributions
- Submitting authors should be prepared to submit CRediT roles for themselves and their co-authors (where applicable) as part of the submission process.
Title page and author information
- Provide the author, affiliation, and correspondence details for the separate title page; Articlo creates the editable companion file.
- This is the full version of the manuscript and must include full author and affiliation details on a Title page.
Show 4 more
- Title Page (‘with author details’ version only): Manuscripts received without the required information in the Title page will be returned.
- The first page should be the title of the paper without name(s) of author(s) (add a Title page as above for the ‘with author details’ version of the manuscript).
- All authors of a manuscript should include their full name and affiliation on the Title page of the “with author details” version of the manuscript (remove for the “anonymous” version).
- One author will need to be identified as the corresponding author, with their email address normally displayed in the article PDF (depending on the journal) and the online article.
