Abstract length

  • Provide an author-written abstract of no more than 150 words.

Keywords

  • Provide up to 5 keywords chosen by the author.

  • Abstracts should indicate the research problem/purpose of the research, provide some indication of the design/methodology/approach taken, the findings of the research and its originality/value in terms of its contribution to the international literature.
  • Authors must also incorporate a Disclosure Statement This is to acknowledge any financial or non-financial interest that has arisen from the direct applications of your research.
  • Sexist or racist terms must not be used.
  • Please use SI units (non-italicized).
  • Editorial: Authors in the Asia-Pacific (except China) should note that all editorial decisions are taken by Professor Lex Brown, and informal enquiries regarding submissions should be sent to him.
  • Once papers are published, abstracts need to encourage readers to download the paper.
  • Image descriptions are typically used by systems such as pronouncing screen readers to make images accessible to people that cannot read or see the object due to a visual disability.

Language and text style

Article type and manuscript length

  • The word count should including maps, figures, tables and references.
  • Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text; acknowledgements; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figure caption(s) (as a list).

Manuscript structure

  • Section headings should be concise and numbered sequentially, using a decimal system for subsections.
  • Authors must retain full records of the methods undertaken, including full descriptions and records of the prompts used, which must be shared with the journal upon request.

Study reporting guidelines

  • For animal studies, approval must have been obtained from the local or institutional animal use and care committee.
  • Authors must provide full methodological details and adhere to relevant reporting guidelines where applicable (e.g. CONSORT-AI, STARD-AI, GAMER, TRIPOD-AI, etc).

Blinded manuscript

  • The PDF should be uploaded as the “Manuscript - with author details”/”Manuscript - anonymous” file.
