Abstract length

Article type and manuscript length

  • Should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of interest statement; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figures; figure captions (as a list).

Manuscript structure

  • Resources articles should aim to include a critical discussion / description of these resources and some ideas about how they might be employed within teaching, if appropriate drawing on examples from your own practice.
  • Review: The conclusions should relate to the review elements of the paper and not the case study; – In all cases, the discussion must be in the context of the relevant peer-reviewed literature, and as relevant, the grey literature.

  • Review: More general conclusions should be drawn so that the paper is of interest to a wide range of readers; – The review should be interesting, readable, up to date and be written in such a way that it will provide valuable insights and encourage discussion and debate.
  • Authors must retain full records of the methods undertaken, including full descriptions and records of the prompts used, which must be shared with the journal upon request.
  • ‘Symposium’ papers are welcome on any appropriate geographic learning and teaching issue and would normally consist of an introduction piece and at least 6, preferably 8 or more papers.
