Readiness requirements

Review the key details below, or download the complete checklist with every stored source-backed requirement.

Abstract length

  • Provide an author-written abstract of no more than 250 words.
  • General Guidelines: Please be sure to submit an abstract - this is required.

Reference style

  • Articlo formats your supplied references to the journal's stored style and checks that citations match the reference list; source validity is not verified.
  • Review: In order to ensure an appropriate review, author name(s) should not appear anywhere on the submission and authors should check that they have deleted their names from the text, with "Author" and year used in the references and footnotes, instead of the authors' name, article title, etc. Please also ensure that any identifying 'properties' have been removed from the Word document itself.

Figure and table rules

  • Keep every figure and table numbered, captioned, and cited in the manuscript.
  • The manuscript should indicate in bold where you intend the images to appear, and should provide captions.

Ethics statement

  • Add or confirm the author-written Ethics statement; Articlo flags it if author input is still needed.
  • Submission Preparation Checklist All submissions must meet the following requirements: Ethics.

Supplementary files

  • Review: Articles cannot proceed into the peer review process until this has happened.

Manuscript structure

  • General Guidelines: A Works Cited section at the end of the article should provide full bibliographic information for sources cited in the article.
  • Review: Each submission to MLO must pass through at least one stage of external peer-review, with the Section Editors making the final decision on whether to accept an article for submission.

Submission forms and permissions

  • If your Open Access publication is funded by an institution or grant body, please make sure you check which license they require you to publish under - it is the author's responsibility to do so.
