Figure and table rules

Title page and author information

- This could be adapted from your departmental website or academic networking profile and should be relatively brief (e.g. no more than 50 words).
- Images should be submitted as separate jpegs and the resolution should be 400 dpi when the width is set to 150 mm.

- Manuscripts should be submitted as Word documents with a minimum of formatting – for instance, no headers, footers or bullet points, and page numbers should not be visible.
- If it is a complete sentence then the closing inverted comma should lie outside the full-stop, ie: 'He repeated what he had said in the first place.' If there is italicized emphasis within a quote, please indicate 'emphasis in the original' or 'emphasis added' (do not use the ambiguous 'author's emphasis').
- Please use SI units (non-italicized).
- Please do not embed it in the manuscript file but save it as a separate file, labelled GraphicalAbstract1.
- In most cases we cannot publish without it, even if you have found the image to be available online.
- If you are submitting in LaTeX, please convert the files to PDF beforehand (you may also need to upload or send your LaTeX source files with the PDF).
- There is a limited colour page budget for the print edition of the Journal which is deployed at the discretion of the Editor.
- Image descriptions are typically used by systems such as pronouncing screen readers to make images accessible to people that cannot read or see the object due to a visual disability.

Manuscript structure
- Articles should be between 5000 and 7000 words, excluding footnotes; this can be extended to a ceiling of 8,000 words in exceptional cases.
- Footnotes should appear without a full stop after the numeral.

Language and text style
- Please note that long quotations should be indented without quotation marks with 1.5 line spacing, a line space above and below, and 0.5 cm indentation either side.
- House style – further points Film titles should be formatted: Gold (L’Or, 1995); and, if director not previously mentioned: No Man’s Land (Danis Tanovic, 2001) Italics are used for titles of artworks, whole publications and films, and ‘single quotes’ for exhibition titles, chapters or essays within a publication.
