Abstract length

  • Provide an author-written abstract of no more than 250 words.

  • All references and notes should be compiled in a single, complete numbered list, under the heading, Notes.
  • Each reference must include the names of all authors.
  • Titles to be abbreviated in the text should be indicated as such in the first (full) reference to that work.

  • You should declare only the acquired funds and grants that are directly relevant to the work reported in your article; for example, This work was supported by the [Funding Agency #1] under Grant [number xxxx]; [Funding Agency #2] under Grant [number xxxx]; and [Funding Agency #3] under Grant [number xxxx].

Ethics statement

Cover letter

Manuscript structure

  • Acknowledgements should be included at the end of the manuscript under the heading, Acknowledgements.
  • When using a word which is or is asserted to be a proprietary term or trade mark, authors must use the symbol ® or TM, or alternatively a footnote can be inserted using the following wording: ‘This article includes a word which is or is asserted to be a proprietary term or trade mark.

Language and text style

  • Chicago Manual headline style should be used for titles of books and articles in English: e.g. The Return of the Native.
  • Punctuation of common abbreviations should follow the following conventions: e.g., i.e., cf.
